About Us

This passionate scuba diver and ocean lover wanted something bright and fun to wear on the boat after diving and was confused by the lack of options for towels made from recycled materials. If we could buy board shorts and bathers (togs) made from plastic bottles, why couldn't I find a towel made from plastic bottles. And so, the journey that is Sandy Toes Beachwear, began.

After my first 4-night dive liveaboard to the amazing Abrolhos Islands in 2021, I found it confusing that there wasn't an option for quick drying recycled and sustainable hooded towels in the market. I took two hooded cotton towels with me on that dive trip. They were heavy, bulky and took too long to dry.  I needed to find something compact, lightweight and absorbent for travel and boating. Something that didn't impact the environment in a negative way and showcased the beauty of Western Australia!

I started researching recycled fabrics and the process of polymerisation to convert plastic bottles to yarn. I researched print options and started dabbling with the idea of my photos on these towels. I love being able to show people what's under the sea; they get an insight into something they may never physically see themselves.
