What fabric do we use for our sand free beach towels?

At Sandy Toes Beachwear, we use rPET (Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate) in our recycled beach towel range. The process of producing rPET involves multiple steps before the finished product (being the miscrosuede fabric we use for our beach towels) is produced. Here's how the process works:
- Collection and sorting - The used plastic bottles are collected, sorted by colour and type, and then cleaned to remove any contaminants such as labels or caps.
- Shredding - The sorted bottles are then shredded into small flakes or pellets.
- Washing - The shredded plastic is washed to remove any remaining impurities, such as residual liquids or food particles.
- Drying - The washed plastic is then dried to remove any moisture.
- Melting - The dried plastic is melted and processed into a polymer resin through a process called re-polymerization.
- Pelletizing - The polymer resin is then pelletized and cooled to form small, uniform pellets that can be easily transported and stored.
- Manufacturing - The rPET pellets are then used to manufacture new products, such as textiles and other plastic products.
The process of producing rPET helps to reduce waste and conserve resources by using recycled materials, and can also help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with the production of new plastic.
